Exterminating bedbugs by steam jet

As reported frequently, the bedbug infestation is epidemic in US today. No matter how you keep your house clean, bedbugs may come to your home any time. This can happen if you stay in a hotel or fly airlines. If you ride in a public transportation, bedbugs may be given to you by the passenger who sit next to you.

Extermination of bedbugs can be very expensive and time consuming if you hire a professional exterminating company.

Fortunately, if you know the fundamentals of dealing with bedbug extermination, a DIY approach will work perfectly and inexpensively.

Basically there are two ways combating with bedbugs. One is chemicals, and another is using heat. However, the latter is by far the better than the former, because it does a thorough job but does not leave any chemical toxins in the house.

The equipment needed is a steam-clean device available at a hardware store under $100 such as McCulloch Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner. It takes a quart of water into its tank, which is heated by electricity. In about 5 to 10 minutes, steam jet will come out of a nozzle.

Expose the steam jet to the top, side, bottom of bed mattress and box spring, floor and side boards of the bed rooms. Do the same to the sofas and couches. When you do this, wash linens by a washer and dry by drier.

We recommended this methods to a number of people, all of whom reported back to us with their success and satisfaction. They unanimously said the bedbugs did not come back after this steam treatment.

Another recommendation
When you travel, carry with you a small bottle of Steri-Fab (under$20, free shipping), a chemical to kill bedbugs, with a small spray bottle. When you feel a possibility of bedbugs in a hotel bed, you can spray it on and around the bed. It contains a bug-killing chemical dissolved in isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol is an alcohol heavier than ethyl alcohol but evaporate fairly fast in a matter of 10-20 minutes, while it kills the bedbugs in the bed. You cannot carry any liquid into the cabin, so it must be in the luggage to check in.
